Rethinking what it means to work at PaperCut Software
When the PaperCut team approached us with the need for design-in-a-hurry, we jumped in to help this playful team. Looking to firmly establish themselves in Portland, this Australian brand wanted to lean heavily into personal artifacts and the playful aspects of the Pacific NW to affirm that they welcome whole, creative and quirky people on the PaperCut team. Keep your eyes open for Yeti spottings around the office!

Infusing PaperCut’s brand was top priority. The playful, quirky nature is obvious when you enter — and the function, with multiple spaces to activate and amenities like side tables that double as stools, is as uplifting as the aesthetics.
We employed many strategies to bring PaperCut’s brand to life, including a robust custom graphic package, hand painted murals and a 3-D “paper” airplane installation that personifies the brand’s playfulness.
We sought out every opportunity for environmental branding and placemaking, to speak both to the Pacific Northwest and to PaperCut’s homeland in Melbourne Austrailia.
The family room features an amazing view & quirky photo wall of PaperCut team members in their natural environments. While a hilarious and fully custom mural of a Yeti playing disc golf across from the photos solidifies the fun and funky character.
Always mindful of function, we carefully optimized to create harmony between openness and privacy. Each shared room is adorned with its own custom graphics, inspired by Portland’s many bridges, to further placemaking and facilitate collaboration.
And even potentially mundane amenities, like phone booths, were decked out with brand forward personality and comfort in mind.
