HBX Studio worked with the Beaverton Public School District to help them design and furnish their new central office. The objective was to develop a dynamic, high performing space that would unite the operations team through shared resources and amenities, in a joyful educational environment. The project included a total re-envisioning of the space plan, significant environmental branding and thoughtful integration of a security office & safety protocol.

The 3 story, 72,000 SF office hosts hardworking educators & administrators for the entire Beaverton School District.
Effective Working Environments
Modern work spaces need to facilitate many types of working environments, from large group collaboration to intimate spaces for private virtual meetings. By creating an intention mix of spaces in the office, we enable the team to work effectively and joyfully throughout the space.
Shared workspaces that are designed to maximize the space while ensuring each person can work to their greatest ability.
Soft partitions were designed with acoustics in mind and help dampen voices. They also serve as location for each person to display personal memorabilia at their desk.
The furniture was selected with ergonomics front and center — desks & chairs offer flexible configurations and the partitions offer variable height storage.

Celebrating Students with Art & Environmental Graphics
At the heart of our design concept was the celebration of student creativity and achievement. We achieve this by thoughtfully integrating murals, environmental graphics, and flexible art displays throughout the office. These artistic elements not only add vibrancy and character to the spaces but also provide a dynamic platform to showcase student work. Murals become a canvas for expressing our connection with the local ecosystem, environmental graphics serve as informational and inspirational tools, while flexible art displays offer an ever-changing gallery of student achievements.
One of the most beloved installations in the space is the sign that greets you upon entering. It’s a dynamic, 3D design made of colored pencils in the shape of the Beaverton School Logo that immediately engages and delights everyone who enters.
Welcoming the Community into Shared Spaces
In designing BSD’s Central Office, it was essential to create a welcoming environment that extends beyond the staff to the entire community. These spaces serve as the hub for important gatherings, including School Board Meetings, which bring parents, teachers, and community members together. By integrating versatile meeting areas, values driven environmental graphics, and accessible layouts, we ensure that the school district office is a place where the community feels valued and engaged, fostering a collaborative atmosphere for educational growth and development
